Ellis & Co sponsors the annual Farndon Soapbox Derby
Our support of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd took a thrilling turn last weekend, as we sponsored the annual (not to mention much anticipated) Farndon Soapbox Derby.
The event began following the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to bring joy and celebration back into the community. Each year participants don their most impressive costumes, hop into their homemade vehicles and race down Farndon High Street, all to raise money for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
Since its inception, the event has raised a tremendous amount of money, with last year alone raising an astounding £47,500 for the Hospice, therefore the decision to sponsor this fantastic event was very easy for the team at Ellis and Co.
In its Mission Statement, Farndon Soapbox Derby states:
“We pride ourselves on supporting and uplifting our local talents, businesses, and residents, creating an inclusive, vibrant, safe, fun space for everyone. Our commitment to the community goes way beyond the race; it’s about fostering connections, building relationships, and creating lasting memories. It’s about joining up the village communities and organisations. We believe in the power of collaboration, and our Soapbox Derby is a testament to the collective spirit that makes our communities unique. As we ‘race’ towards the future, we hold dear the values of unity, fun and shared experiences.”
Speaking of the event, Director here at Ellis & Co, John Farrell, has said:
“What a fantastic day to support a wonderful cause. Despite the rain, everyone was in great spirits, and it was fantastic to see the effort that is put into this community event. A huge well done to organisers, participants and winners.”
